Rebecca, a talented writer and editor, graduated from Makerere University Kampala in 2001 and has since honed her skills in professional writing, editing, and design for a diverse range of clients. For the past decade, she has served as a Sub-Editor at The New Vision, a prominent daily newspaper in Uganda. Her tenure has seen her rise through the ranks from Features sub-editor to Senior Sub-Editor, and then Chief Sub-Editor of The Kampala Sun, a publication of Vision Group. Currently, she holds the esteemed positions of Editor of Homes, a Saturday Vision pull-out, and Assistant Editor of Supplements, still at Vision Group. Prior to joining The New Vision, she worked as both an Assistant Editor and Editor of Relate Magazine, a Christian publication, from 2003 to 2005.
Rebecca has also provided valuable editorial and content development support for organizations such as Uganda’s Ministry of Finance (The Competitiveness and Investment Climate Strategy (CICS) publication) and Magazine Centre, as well as editing school magazines such as 100 years of Budo, 100 years of Gayaza High School, and 50 years of Ntare School. In addition, she has edited several successful books.
Her current role in a leading media house has given her an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of editorial decision-making, and how these decisions are shaped by both corporate interests and public demand. Rebecca’s background in Literature has equipped her with strong analytical skills that enable her to filter and disseminate information effectively. Her contextual expertise in editing and publishing has enabled her to work collaboratively with writers across genres throughout the writing, editing, and publishing process. With a passion for literature, she is a prolific book reviewer who has professionally edited numerous works that have been published with success.
