Overview

In this autobiography, Msgr Ndamira’s life story reveals some very profound lessons whose main point is to live a fruitful life while serving others. The book is laced with his philosophy in life, which is; “Work hard, serve others, eat and sleep well.”

Description

“Why on earth am I here?” Every human being alive at any one point in their existence will be faced with the need to answer this question.

As individuals, we all must make sense of why we are living. Ultimately, contentment and happiness begin from the moment one discovers why they were created.

If you ever needed to learn how a person can fulfil their purpose on this earth, this is the book for you. The life of Msgr, Dr. Francis Ndamira can be summed up in this one sentence: “A Catholic Priest who is passionate about uplifting the lives of people.”

In this autobiography, Msgr Ndamira’s life story reveals some very profound lessons whose main point is to live a fruitful life while serving others. The book is laced with his philosophy in life, which is; “Work hard, serve others, eat and sleep well.”

From reading Laurels for a Priest, you will learn that the true purpose of life is to serve. However, when doing so, you should not expect something in return. Your intention should be to lessen other people’s misery and then your own happiness will return to you. Service to others should be sincere and done from the heart; only then will it be fruitful.

Do any trees eat their own fruit? No, they do not. In the same way, every fruit that comes from the essence of who we are as human beings must be shared with others.

Laurels for a Priest teaches us that human beings should not use their mind, body and speech only for themselves, but also to aid others. When you do this, nature will reward you in return.

This story will inspire you beyond your wildest imagination. It will get you out of your comfort zone to build a legacy for future generations.

About The Author

Msgr Dr Francis Ndamira is a priest of the Catholic Church in Kabale Diocese. He is the National Director of Caritas Uganda, a network of Caritas Internationalis whose headquarters is in Rome, Italy, a position he has held from 1995 to date. Caritas Uganda is the development arm of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, situated at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat in Nsambya, Kampala. Prior to that, he was acting Rector at St. Paul’s Seminary Rushoroza and Vicar General of Kabale Diocese, assisting his Bishop to organise and plan for the Diocese through synods. He was also the acting Secretary General for the Uganda Episcopal Conference for two and a half years.

He holds a M.A. and PhD degrees in sociology and development from the University of New York, and a B.A. in the same discipline from Villanova University, in Philadelphia, U.S.A. He also holds a diploma in philosophy from Katigondo Major Seminary and a diploma in theology awarded by both Ggaba National Major Seminary and Makerere University. His pastoral zeal is anchored in the social teaching of the Catholic Church, particularly, on the centrality of human dignity, the intrinsic value of every human being by virtue of being created by God in His own image. This is combined with and reinforced by professional skills in sociology, a science of people and society. He was the vice president of Caritas Africa Commission, whose headquarters is in Lome, Togo, in West Africa, for eight years. He was also a representative of Caritas Africa Commission at Caritas Internationalis Representative Council in Rome. He also coordinated Caritas AMECEA for the Catholics in Eastern Africa, based in Nairobi for another eight years.

Msgr Ndamira’s life is full of trust in God, hard work and a profound love and care for the environment and a peaceful and descent life for all. He believes that, given opportunity, marginalised and vulnerable persons can uplift their socio-economic conditions, and that everything to do with the promotion and protection of our Mother Earth and planet must be done. This, he has demonstrated through his leadership of Caritas Uganda and in his own community in Kanungu, where his efforts, together with others, have put smiles on the faces of many poor people in Uganda
